Course Description

We use gardening as part of our education and therapy programming. Gardening provides sensory experiences for students while also educating about health. In this course you will learn the basics of how to get your at-home garden started, no matter how much space you may have. In addition, we will cover the easiest plants to grow and the best time of year to plant them, sun exposure, soil type, how much to water your garden, potting vs raised beds and when to harvest.

Requirements

We will provide weekly virtual sessions, in addition to our in-person sessions, which will cover the basics of how to get your garden started. Our garden programming includes choosing a location & layout, how to grow varieties pertaining to the right climate, obtaining seeds and supplies, cultivating the soil, when to harvest, and natural weed and pest control. In addition, we utilize occupational therapists to incorporate programs to educate students and their families on how to properly prepare and cook the harvested food.
